Q1: I have bought the ECCS book “Fire Design of Steel Structures”, how can I obtain a full version of the software Elefir-EN?

Along with your book comes a code (“bookcode”) that you can use to register your copy of Elefir-EN. You can find the bookcode on the last page of the book. After downloading and installing the software Elefir-EN, you need to run the software and click on the Register button in the first screen. This will start the registration process and to complete it you should give your e-mail and bookcode. Please note that this must be a valid e-mail or otherwise you will not get the licence key needed to activate the software since it will be sent to this address. After pressing the Ok button, you will receive an e-mail with your licence key which you should copy and paste into the software, and that’s it! Your software is fully registered.

Q2: I have a bookcode, how many licences am I entitled to have? Into how many computers can I install the full version?

With each bookcode you are entitled to have 3 full licences of the software, you can use them to install the full version on 3 different computers. Each licence is bounded to a computer, this means that you can install or update your software as many times as you wish in the same computer without the need of an extra licence.

Q3: I have already registered the software and now there is a new version of the software available to download, do I need an extra licence to update?

No. If your copy is already registered and you pretend to update to the last version available, you won’t need an extra licence.

Q4: I have registered the software on my computer using my e-mail address and bookcode, but now my colleague cannot register the software with this same bookcode even if I still have licences available. Is this an error?

No. At the moment we don’t support the use of multiple e-mails with the same bookcode, in that situation you should register the software in your colleague computer using the same combination e-mail address/bookcode, and then check your e-mail for the valid licence key.

Q5: Is there a manual for Elefir-EN?

No. At the moment, there is no manual for the Elefir-EN. Some details are given in Chapter 8 of the ECCS Book "Fire Design of Steel Structures". If you have a particular case that you cannot run, please let us know.

Q6: Do you sell licences for the software Elefir-EN?

No. The software is part of the book “Fire Design of Steel Structures” and we don’t sell licences apart.

Q7: Which operating systems are supported by Elefir-EN?

The current version of Elefir-EN is supported in all versions of Microsoft Windows family (Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, etc.)  running in 32 bits or 64 bits mode.

 Q8: Does Elefir-EN run in an Apple Mac Computer?

Although Elefir-EN doesn't natively run on the Mac operating systems (Mac OsX), it has been developed so it can be used in a Mac computer on the following situations:

  1. Installing Elefir-EN in a Windows operating system (running on the MAC computer).
  2. By using a virtual machine / desktop virtualization tool like Parallels Desktop (www.parallels.com) or VMFusion (www.vmware.com/products/fusion/), or other similar, and installing Elefir-EN on this virtual machine / desktop virtualization tool.

 Q9: Some windows in Elefir-EN are not scaling correctly, and the information is not visible, is it normal?

This is due to your current windows DPI settings. If you are experiencing this kind of problem, we advise you to change your current settings to 96 DPI. You may follow the instructions available on the link below to change your current DPI settings so Elefir-EN can run normally:

Instructions to change Windows DPI Settings (0.45 MB)
(Solution available for Windows 10, 7, Vista and XP)

 Q10: I already have a license key but when I try to register Elefir-EN in (my new computer/different computer) I get an error message saying that the license key is not valid. What should I do?

Each license key is only valid for one computer. When you install Elefir-EN:
a) in new computer;
b) in the same computer but you have replaced your hard drive;
c) different computer;
you need a new license key to register the full version of the software.

In order to obtain a new license key you should register again Elefir-EN with your previous
e-mail and bookcode combination. To do this just follow this steps:

1. Start Elefir-EN.
2. Click the Register button.
3. Click "Click here to obtain a valid license key!" button.
4. Enter your registration details (e-mail and bookcode), please note that in this step you should enter the details that you used the first time you registered Elefir-EN.
5. Click the Register button.

The new license key will be sent to the e-mail address provided, use this license to register the full version of Elefir-EN.

If you don't remember your Bookcode send us an e-mail (or use the contact page) and we will e-mail your Bookcode.
